Oak Lawn Rotary participates in Dictionary Project
Dictionary Project 2008: This is such an exciting project for our club! We are thrilled to announce that the Oak Lawn Rotary Club is now working on the 3rd annual "Dictionary Project", in which every third grader in Oak Lawn, Hometown, and Burbank in both private and public schools will receive his or her very own dictionary. This project is a win-win for all concerned: the students, the teachers, and the Rotarians. What a great gift for our students! The schools who are receiving these books are:
St. Catherine of Alexandria Oak Lawn District 123 Oak Lawn District 122
St. Gerald's Covington Columbus Manor
St. Germaine Hannum Ernest F. Kolb
St. Linus Kolmar Harnew
St. Louis De Montfort Hometown Lieb
St. Paul Lutheran Sward
Southwest Christian
Southside Baptist
Burbank School District 111:
Burbank
Byrd
Kennedy
Maddock
McCord
Tobin
Each third grader received his or her own dictionary, which they are able to keep! This is not just an ordinary dictionary. It also includes
Weights & Measures, Multiplication Tables, Roman Numerals, Planets, Maps of the World, The U.S. Presidents, Declaration of Independence,
Facts about other countries, Sign Language, Braille, The U.S. Constitution and Amendments, etc. and also the longest word in the English
language! The kids loved learning that!
We have fun distributing the books. The students and teachers are as enthusiastic as we are. A great project and wonderful
opportunity to serve our future leaders!
